How to Measure Flat Garments Accurately
Always measure apparel laid completely flat on a smooth surface without stretching the fabric.
Chest / Pit to Pit (P2P)
Measure horizontally across the front from armpit seam to armpit seam (1 inch below the sleeve junction). Multiply by 2 for full chest circumference.
Body Length (HPS)
Measure vertically from the High Point Shoulder (where the collar seam meets the shoulder) straight down to the bottom hemline.
Shoulder Width
Measure horizontally from the outer edge of one shoulder seam across to the other. For drop-shoulder cuts, measure from drop point to drop point.
Sleeve Length
Measure from the top shoulder seam point along the outer edge of the sleeve down to the end of the ribbed wrist cuff or sleeve hem.
